Justin’s interest in helping kids began as a college pre-med student when he became concerned with what drugs and alcohol do to brain cells.
His concern for youth turned into action in 1988 when he began working as a Juvenile Probation Officer Crime Prevention Specialist in the toughest part of East Texas . Over his nearly six year tenure in the justice system, the referral rate to juvenile probation in Smith County dropped 61% below projections. Vicki Spriggs, the Executive Director of the Texas Juvenile Probation Commission, says that the reason he is so successful at positively shaping the lives of young people is that he “understands them and what’s more, they understand him.” Justin left the justice system 12 years ago to tour the US to speak in public schools and at leadership conferences for MADD, DARE and FFA. Now Justin travels across America , helping youth take on the issues they face every day.
At 6’7” and 180 lbs. he has the physical characteristics of a real comedian and this holds the attention of all ages. It might sound astounding but, “Justin is the only speaker that brought a change to the campus,” according to Vicki Neil of Rice Elementary. He doesn’t just talk, he connects. And amazingly he connects to all ages. He takes practical things and gives them deep meaning. Like playing basketball without rules for 2nd graders who soon learn that rules are cool, because without them it’s chaos.
Justin is influencing a powerful generation. He is giving them hope for the future. Fueling their excitement about the present. Giving them the courage to experience life without drugs, alcohol and violence. He has been given the gift of understanding our youth and influencing their decisions. Justin Lookadoo is living his life to the fullest and will take your students with him.
Justin has conducted over 3,500 presentations, speaking to over half a million students. He has appeared on numerous radio and TV talk shows and is the best-selling author of Dateable: Are You? Are They? and The Dateable Rules.
