When Coach left the field…
Now inspiring teens from an auditorium, Coach Collins takes the stage with the energy of a football team at their homecoming game. He immediately connects with students, holding their attention for the remainder of the presentation.
Lamar Collins brings his presentation to the student level with appropriate use of their language, humor, and thought provoking stories. Teens recognize and appreciate his genuine interest in their future. He tells teens “You’re better than that! You deserve more.” Building on his coaching experience, Lamar works to rally the team of students together, encouraging students to make good decisions by understanding the costs of high risk behaviors such as drinking, drug use, and sexual activity.
In his relationship centered approach, Lamar uses real life scenarios to address issues teens face every day. He breaks down the struggle into its core issues of self control, peer pressure, and hormones. Then, he teaches them how to make the right decisions. For example, Coach Collins teaches teens to avoid potentially dangerous situations, to write down their personal boundaries, set goals, and make the sometimes difficult choices that keep those goals within reach.
Lamar now lives in Temple, Texas with his wife and four children. After leaving the classroom, He joined the staff of Worth the Wait and Scott and White Hospital to go into schools as an educational trainer and motivational speaker for students, parents, and staff.
